Somali police said they had foiled a suicide attack in the capital Mogadishu, media reports said on Saturday, Xinhua reported.
Reports quoted a police officer as saying that Islamist militias had planned to carry out a suicide attack as a gunman armed with explosives tried to ram a petrol tanker into the seaport.
At least three government police officers were killed and four others wounded on Thursday after a suicide car bomb exploded outside the gate of the international airport of Mogadishu. A second blast was heard moments later inside the airport compound.
The Al Qaeda-linked group Al Shebab has claimed responsibility for the deadly airport attack.
