Lohan granted right to bail after being jailed again (UPDATE)

Troubled Hollywood star Lindsay Lohan, 24, was back in jail Friday after failing a recent drug test, but an appeals judge ruled that she had the right to post bail, dpa reported.

Lohan was led out in handcuffs from Los Angeles Superior Court after a brief hearing in front of the judge in charge of her case, the Hollywood Reporter said.

Lohan had arrived on time early Friday in the courtroom of Judge Elden Fox, who had revoked her probation on Monday and ordered her to appear. Lohan announced on her Twitter account last week that she had failed her latest drug test.

Later Friday, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg ruled that Lohan could leave jail if she posts 300,000 dollars in bail, the Los Angeles Times reported. It was not clear if she had been released.

Media reports said that Lohan's urine sample showed evidence of both cocaine and methamphetamine consumption.

"Regrettably, I did in fact fail my most recent drug test, and, if I am asked, I am prepared to appear before judge Fox next week as a result," the actress tweeted.

"This was certainly a setback for me, but I am taking responsibility for my actions, and I'm prepared to face the consequences. Substance abuse is a disease, which unfortunately doesn't go away over night. I am working hard to overcome it and am taking positive steps."

Known for her roles in movies like Freaky Friday and The Parent Trap, Lohan was recently released on probation, after serving fewer than two weeks of a 90-day jail sentence, due to overcrowding, for parole violations stemming from drunk-driving offences. She also spent a court-ordered three-week stint in a rehabilitation clinic.

Her current probation requires her to stay clean of alcohol and illegal drugs, meaning she could face a tougher sentence for the newest drug violation.
