An Antonov An-2 light plane with three crewmembers and eight passengers was discovered in Russia's south Siberian republic of Buryatia after it went missing on Friday, a spokesman for the regional emergencies ministry said, RIA Novosti reported.

The An-2 plane took off from the Bagdarin airport in Buryatia on Friday morning but did not land in the place of its destination and had no communication with ground controllers.

The light plane was later discovered by rescuers some 75 km (47 miles) from the airport where it made an emergency landing.

"All people are alive and one of them is injured as he apparently broke his leg. The crew and the passengers are currently at a deer farm and provided with food," the spokesman said.

He added that the crew of the plane was forced to make an emergency landing after attempting to detour a thunder cloud.
