About 20 Russian tourists were injured after their bus overturned near the Thai resort city of Pattaya, the Russian embassy in Bangkok said on Sunday.

The bus, which set off from Pattaya on a two-day trip to the Kanchanaburi province flipped over some 20 km from Pattaya at about 6:00 a.m. local time on Sunday, RIA Novosti reported.

"Out of 42 people who were in the bus, about 20 people received injuries and bruises. They were delivered from the accident site to two hospitals in Pattaya. The injuries are mostly not grave," Andrei Dvornikov, head of the consular department of the Russian embassy in Thailand, said.

The Russian consul also said that at the moment of his talk with the media, only two Russians were staying at the hospital. He added that there were several Ukrainians among those injured in the road accident.

According to the consul, the bus apparently failed to negotiate a turn, drove into a ditch and flipped to its right side.
