At least five people were killed Wednesday in a suspected US pilotless plane attack on a compound in Pakistan's troubled tribal region along the Afghan border, dpa reported
CIA-operated drones hit a house in Makaan-e-Bagh village near Miran Shah, the main town in North Waziristan district, an intelligence official speaking on condition of anonymity said.
The official said that the village is dominated by Uzbek and other foreign militants linked to al-Qaeda.
"We have reports that five people have been killed in the strike that completely destroyed the compound," he said.
The US military has intensified drone strikes in recent weeks in Pakistan's tribal region where the Taliban and al-Qaeda have hideouts.
Ten people, including eight suspected German nationals, died in an attack by unmanned aircraft Monday in the North Waziristan tribal district
