Four people were killed Thursday in a suspected US drone attack in Pakistan's tribal region along the Afghan border, Pakistani security officials said.

The strike took place in the Khushali Jungle area of North Waziristan, a known hotbed of Taliban and al-Qaeda militants who cross into Afghanistan for attacks on US-led international forces, DPA reported.

"A US drone fired two missiles into a vehicle that had just entered a compound," said an intelligence official who spoke on condition of anonymity. "According to initial reports, four people have died."

The identity of those killed in the strike was not known.

A second intelligence confirmed the incident.

It was the latest attack in the intensified US drone campaign in Pakistan's tribal region. Around 150 people have died in over two dozen missile strikes since September 3.
