The United States Embassy strongly condemns all forms of violence in connection with the October parliamentary elections, the diplomatic mission stated on Thursday, news agency "24.kg" reported.
"We are disturbed by reports of an attack on a party office in Bishkek. We urge the Government of Kyrgyzstan to investigate the attack and take appropriate measures against the instigators. We continue to support stability in Kyrgyzstan and call for peaceful elections. The world is watching these elections closely and peaceful, fair parliamentary elections will demonstrate that Kyrgyzstan is on a democratic path," the statement reads.
Note of 24.kg news agency: On October 6, 2010, a group of people, who introduced themselves as relatives of the killed on April 7, attacked an office of one of the political parties, participating in the elections, in the capital of the country. Having broken into the party headquarters, they burnt papers, including financial and legal documents, and damaged a part of office equipment and computers. The leaders of the political organization sent appropriate claims with a request of taking measures to the Prosecutor General's Office, the MIA and the State National Security Service, as well as the Central Elections Commission. However, so far none of the force structures, including the main oversight body of the country, has taken any measures in regard to the rowdies, saying that they are checking the fact. The party stresses that many witnesses shot the incident by the cameras of their mobile telephones and that there were also many journalists with professional cameras in the epicenter.
The Central Elections Commission of Kyrgyzstan condemned such provocations organized by a group of citizens and named them unallowable.
