Five kidnap suspects were killed Saturday in a clash with police officers in the Philippines, a regional police spokeswoman said.

Three kidnap victims were rescued unharmed during the pre-dawn raid at the suspects' hideout in General Trias town, Cavite province, 75 kilometres south of Manila, Inspector Jennifer Cuntapay said, DPA reported.

Cuntapay said two of the kidnappers were killed during the actual rescue operations at the suspects' lair in Santiago village. Three more suspects, who initially escaped aboard a van, were killed by pursuing police officers.

The victims, identified as Indian nationals Pavitter Singh and Balvir Singh and their Filipino friend Luciano Clemen, were seized two days ago in Marilao town in Bulacan province, 20 kilometres north of Manila.
