Paedophile priest sentenced to 21 years in prison in Britain
A former Catholic priest in Britain was jailed for 21 years Friday for the sexual abuse of young boys over a period of more than two decades dpa reported.
James Robinson, 73, who was extradited from the US last year to face trial in his native Britain, was unanimously convicted of the offences by a jury at Birmingham Crown Court, in central England.
The former Roman Catholic priest, who was found guilty of having committed 21 offences during ministries in Britain between 1959 and 1983, was described as "devious and manipulative" by the presiding judge.
Judge Patrick Thomas also criticized the role of the Catholic Church in the case, describing it as "highly questionable."
Robinson, who was ordained in 1971, fled to California in 1985, when the first of his victims spoke out. Six former victims gave evidence at the trial.
