An infant girl have died and another one was seriously injured after jumping out of the window on the outskirts of Paris together with their nine relatives frightened by a "devil," local media reported.
The incident took place in the town of La Verriere. A woman took her African-born husband, who woke up at night to feed their infant daughter, for a "devil" and began crying loudly, waking up the other 11 people who stayed at the house, RIA Novosti reported.
In a clash with his relatives that broke out subsequently, the man, who was reportedly naked, received a knife injury and was then turned out of doors. The alleged "devil's" attempt to break into the house sent his family members into a spin and made 11 of them jump out of the window.
The eleven were injured and taken to hospital as a result. Doctors failed to save the life of the four-month old girl who was among those jumping. Another girl, aged 2, received serious injuries.
An investigation into the causes of the incident is under way. Some media reports said is was a result of a haunting, but the local prosecutor's office denied the reports.
