Pakistani leaders condemn blast at shrine

Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Monday strongly condemned the blast at a shrine in the eastern city of Pakpattan which killed at least eight people and injured 20 others.

Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Monday strongly condemned the blast at a shrine in the eastern city of Pakpattan which killed at least eight people and injured 20 others, Xinhua reported.
  
In the separate messages Zardari and Gilani said the act were carried by elements who wished to create unrest and demoralize the people, but said they would not succeed in their nefarious designs.
  
The leaders said the perpetrators of the blast outside the shrine would not escape the law of the land and directed the law enforcement agencies to investigate the matter and submit a report.
  
The president and prime minister expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives. They directed the authorities to provide best possible treatment to the injured.
  
The blast took place at about local time 6:34 a.m. when a motorcycle planted bomb exploded at the eastern gate of the shrine of Baba Farid in the city which is located in the eastern part of Punjab.
  
Many people were inside the shrine praying while the blast took place, said the report, adding that two unknown man run away after they parked a milk supply motorcycle carrying milk cans containing explosives inside.
  
No group has claimed the responsibility for the blast yet.
