Singapore Airlines on Thursday suspended all flights operated with the Airbus A380 after a Qantas superjumbo was forced to made an emergency landing in Singapore after engine trouble, DPA reported.
"Our engine manufacturer Rolls Royce and aircraft manufacturer Airbus have advised us to conduct precautionary technical checks on our A380 aircraft following today's incident involving another operator's A380," airline spokesman Nicholas Ionides said.
"Resulting from this development, Singapore Airlines will be delaying all flights operating our A380 aircraft," he said.
Australia's Qantas Airways earlier grounded its fleet of A380s, the world's largest passenger airplane, after Flight QF32 bound for Sydney ran into engine trouble Thursday shortly after its takeoff from Singapore's Changi airport.
The pilot had to shut down one engine after experiencing technical problems over Indonesia's Batam island.
After shedding some debris, the plane circled and dumped fuel to prepare for the emergency landing in Singapore.
There were no injuries among the 433 passengers and 26 crew when the plane landed safely in Singapore, a Qantas spokeswoman said.
