Twelve killed in plane crash in Pakistan

Rescue workers retrieved 12 bodies from the wreckage of a plane that crashed in Pakistan's southern port city of Karachi on Friday, civil aviation and rescue officials said, dpa reported.

The Cessna plane that was carrying the employees of a US oil company went down minutes after take-off.

Parvez George, a spokesman for the Civil Aviation Authority, said that there had been two crew members and 20 passengers on the plane.

George said that the pilot informed the control tower 30 seconds after take-off that one engine was not working. "He was asked to return and when he tried to return to the airport the plane crashed."

A rescue official said that the 12 bodies recovered from the wreckage had been moved to Jinnah Hospital.
