There were no Azerbaijani citizens on the aircraft that crashed last night in the center of Cuba, the Cuban Civil Aeronautics Institute (IACC) said.

There were no Azerbaijani citizens on the aircraft that crashed last night in the center of Cuba, the Cuban Civil Aeronautics Institute (IACC) said.

An ATR-72-212 aircraft belong ot the Cuban Aerocaribbean SA airlines, en route from Santiago de Cuba to Havana, crashed in the central region of Guasimal in the province of Sancti Spiritus, RIA Novosti reported. Sixty-one passengers and seven crew members had been on board when the accident occurred - 40 Cubans and 28 foreigners.

According to the IACC, among the foreigners were two Germans, two Austrians, three Dutch, one French citizen, one Italian, one Spaniard, one Japanese citizen, nine Argentinians, seven Mexicans and one Venezuelan.

The authorities are investigating the incident. A special commission has been created.
