A bomb exploded Monday in a bus terminal in the southern Philippines, killing the suspected bomber and wounding two men, the military and police said, dpa reported.

The blast occurred near the terminal's perimeter fence in Carmen town, North Cotabato province, 930 kilometres south of Manila, said Chief Inspector Jomar Alexis Yap, a regional police spokesman.

Yap said no group had claimed responsibility for the bombing and investigators were still determining a motive for the attack.
Captain Razaleigh Bansawan, an army spokesman, said three men were initially wounded in the explosion but one died while being treated for his injuries in hospital.
"He is being considered a suspect," he said.
The explosion occurred almost one month after 10 people were killed by a bomb in a passenger bus in nearby Matalam town in North Cotabato province on October 21.

Defence officials blamed that bombing on extortion gangs and Muslim rebels in the province.
