Arms, ammunition discovered in Kabul: Interior Ministry

Police have discovered arms and ammunitions from villages in the outskirts of Afghan capital Kabul and thus foiled possible terrorist attacks in the city, the Afghan Interior Ministry said in a statement released here on Saturday, Xinhua reported.

The caches, containing explosive devices, mines, mortars and 122 mm missiles were found from Deh Sabz and Khak-e-Jabar district, Kabul province on Thursday, the statement added, saying with discovery of the ordnance possible terrorist attacks have been thwarted.

Security forces have also arrested seven insurgents in and around the capital city Kabul over the past couple of weeks including those responsible for organizing a suicide attack inside a supermarket on January 28 that left eight civilians dead and injured 15 others, intelligence agency spokesman Lutfullah Mashal said Thursday.
