Danish drama "In a Better World" has won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film at the 83rd Academy Awards ceremony held at Kodak Theatre in downtown Los Angeles Sunday night, Xinhua reported.
"I am so truly honoured and grateful and happy," said filmmaker Susanne Bier, dpa reported.
The film tells the story of a family split between small-town Denmark and a refugee camp in Sudan and is the third Danish movie to win the foreign film Oscar.
In a Better World also won the Golden Globe for best foreign film. Last year's winner was the Argentine thriller The Secret in the Eyes.
