Germany has increased precautions for food imported from Japan, Consumer Minister Ilse Aigner announced Wednesday, amid reports of increasing nuclear radiation from the country's Fukushima reactor, dpa reported.
"The German authorities are remaining very alert, especially regarding possible imports from the crisis zone," Aigner said, adding that she presently saw no danger for consumers.
In particular, fish and fish produce would be tested for radioactive contamination, the minister said, after such measures were recommended by the European Commission.
