A French soldier was killed and nine of his colleagues were injured in an explosion in the Afghan Kapisa Province, the French president's office said Wednesday, dpa reported.
The office of President Nicolas Sarkozy made the announcement. The death marked the 55th death for the French military in Afghanistan since the conflict began in 2001.
The Elysee Palace said the soldiers were travelling in an armoured vehicle when the attack occurred. Details were not available.
