Left-wing nationalist Ollanta Humala was leading in Sunday's presidential runoff in Peru, based on exit polls issued minutes after voting ended, dpa reported.

According to the polling firm Ipsos Apoyo, Humala was supported by 52.6 per cent of voters surveyed, compared to 47.4 per cent for right-wing populist Keiko Fujimori. The firm Datum Internacional gave Humala 52.7 per cent of the vote to Fujimori's 47.3. The firm CPI's exit polling put Humala ahead with 52.5-47.5 per cent in the second-round election.
