Police in Northern Italy early Wednesday arrested dozens of suspected members of drug rings linked to one of Italy's four main mafia organizations, the Ndrangheta.

At least 140 people were picked up in police raids, mostly in the north-western industrial cities of Turin, Milan and Modena but also in the Ndrangheta's heartland, the southern region of Calabria, news reports said, DPA reported.

Some 70 million euros (102 million dollars) in assets were also seized.
