A magnitude 6 earthquake jolted northern Philippines Thursday around 10:56 a.m., local time, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said, Xinhua rported.
The epicenter of the earthquake, , was located 23 kilometers northwest of Calayan islands.
The U.S. Geological survey said the earthquake has a depth 20. 8 kilometers. The tremor was of tectonic origin.
Phivolcs said intensity two earthquake was felt in the province of Ilocos Norte.
Phivolcs said there were no reports of loss of lives or damaged to property due to earthquake. The agency doesn't expect any aftershocks.
