A road accident in Daman district of southern Kandahar province killed 34 Afghan civilians and wounded 24 others early Saturday, officials said, dpa reported.
A statement from the Kandahar governor's office said excessive speed was the main reason for the accident as the bus driver lost control of the vehicle in the district's Manda area.
"A bus car crashed today in Daman district on Kandahar-Kabul highway causing 58 casualties," it said. "Thirty-four people were killed and 24 others were wounded."
