Suicide car bomb hits Afghan bank, 10 injured

At least 10 people were injured in a suicide car bombing outside a bank in Afghanistan's southern Helmand province on Saturday, an official said, DPA reported.

The bomber detonated the vehicle at the New Kabul Bank in the provincial capital Lashkar Gah, said deputy police chief for Helmand, Kamal-u-Din Sherzai.

Sherzai could not immediately confirm a casualty figure.

Most of those injured were soldiers and police officers collecting their salaries at the bank at the time of the blast.

In February, a group Taliban suicide bombers attacked a branch of the same bank in the east of the country, killing more than 40 people.
