Islamabad closed NATO supply routes and ordered the US military to vacate a base after airstrikes killed at least 24 Pakistani soldiers, officials said Sunday.
Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar informed US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton that the attacks ""negate the progress made by the two countries on improving relations", DPA repored
He said an emergency meeting of the cabinet's defence committee ordered the halt to NATO supply shipments to landlocked Afghanistan. It also ordered the US to vacate an airbase in the south-western province of Baluchistan within 15 days.
"They (the attacks) demonstrate complete disregard for international law and human life, are in stark violation of Pakistani sovereignty, and force Pakistan to revisit the terms of engagement," the minister said.
