French President Nicolas Sarkozy appealed on Tuesday to television networks not to broadcast footage of the killings carried out by Mohamed Merah earlier this month, DPA reported.
A video montage containing excerpts of the killings was received by the Paris bureau of the Al Jazeera network on Monday.
Sarkozy asked "all channels" in possession of the footage not to broadcast the footage "under any pretext, out of respect for the victims and respect for the republic."
