Russian embassy in Afghanisant not attacked
A spokesman for Russia's embassy in Afghanistan on Sunday dismissed media reports claiming that the embassy's high-profile compound in Kabul has been attacked, RIA Novosti reported.
Kabul and several Afghanistan cities were rocked by gunfire and explosions on Sunday as the Taliban-led insurgency launched its largest attack in its 11-year struggle, local media said.
"The embassy has not been attacked, security has been beefed up," the spokesman said.
The country's Interior Ministry said that according to preliminary data, 17 terrorists have been killed in the attacks; 17 police officers and 14 civilians have been wounded.
