NATO says it killed senior al-Qaeda leader in Afghanistan
A senior al-Qaeda leader was killed by NATO and Afghan troops, the military coalition said Tuesday, DPA reported.
The operation in the Watahpur district of the eastern province of Kunar "resulted in the deaths of Sakhr al-Taifi, a Saudi al-Qaeda leader, and one additional al-Qaeda terrorist" Sunday, the NATO forces said.
It said al-Taifi, also known as Musthaq and Nasim, was al-Qaeda's second-highest leader in Afghanistan.
He was allegedly responsible for commanding foreign insurgents and supplying weapons and equipment to eastern insurgents.
