Bombing at railway station kills five in Pakistan

At least five people were killed Wednesday and more than two dozen wounded when a bomb ripped through a railway station in south-western Pakistan, dpa reported quoting police and health officials as said.

The attack took place about 11 pm (18:00 gmt) at railway station in Sibi district in Baluchistan province.

Senior police official Ghulam Ali Lashari said the bomb was planted near a vendor stall on the platform and went off just minutes after a train pulled into the station.

"We have received five dead and 25 injured in our medical facility. Most of the injured are in critical condition," said Ghulam Sarwar, head of civil hospital of Sibi.

No one took immediate responsibility for the attack.

Baluchistan has seen violence by Baluch ethnic groups, who want greater autonomy from the federal government and complete control of natural resources such as gas and minerals in the province.
