Britain's Alistair Brownlee ran away from the field to win the gold medal in the men's triathlon at the London Olympics on Tuesday, DPA reported.
Brownlee completed the Hyde Park course in 1 hour 46 minutes 25 seconds, 11 seconds clear of Spain's Javier Gomez. Jonny Brownlee, Alistair's younger brother, took bronze.
The top three opened up a gap of more than 20 seconds after the cycling leg, before the elder Brownlee brother broke free to win gold.
Jonny Brownlee captured bronze despite having to take a 15-second penalty during the run, imposed after he mounted his bike too early after the opening swim leg.
