Peralta leaves Brazil still in search of Olympic football gold

Brazil head to their home Olympics in Rio 2016 still in search of a first Olympic gold in men's football after a brace from Oribe Peralta gave Mexico a shock 2-1 over the Selecao in the Olympic final at Wembley on Saturday, dpa reported.

Peralta put Mexico ahead after just 29 seconds, taking advantage of a defensive error by Fabio, and the 28-year-old netted his second of the game with 15 minutes remaining, heading home a Marco Fabian free-kick.

Substitute Hulk reduced the deficit in additional time and Oscar even had a chance to equalise for Brazil but headed over to give Mexico their first men's Olympic title and leave the five-time world champions still in search of their first Olympic gold.

The victory also gives Mexico its first gold medal of London 2012 while the disjointed display by Brazil heaps the pressure on coach Mano Menezes with the 2014 World Cup on home soil less than two years away.
