A lawyer for victims of mass-murderer Anders Behring Breivik welcomed on Friday the court's ruling that the extremist gunman was sane, saying it offered closure to bereaved families.
"There are likely different views, but we have likely got a ruling that many bereaved and survivors can live with," Frode Elgesem told Norwegian television during a brief recess at the Oslo District Court, DPA reported.
Mette Yvonne Larsen, another lawyer for victims and their families, said: "The court took a brave and independent decision."
Prosecutor Svein Holden declined to comment on whether he would appeal the ruling, which overruled the prosecution's position that Breivik was insane.
