A bomb detonated by remote control killed two pro-government tribal elders Saturday in southern Afghanistan a government spokesman said, dpa reported.

The bomb killed Malik Abdul Majid and Doctor Naimatullah as they were en route to their office in Trinkot, the provincial capital of Uruzgran province.

"Naimatullah's two sons were also injured after the bomb planted by insurgents along the road next to his residence was detonated remotely exploded," said Abdullah Hemat, the provincial governor's spokesman.

Taliban militants have targeted pro-government influential tribal elders in the past. No militant groups yet claimed responsibility for Saturday's attack.
