Somalia's President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud escaped an assassination attempt on Wednesday, two days after being sworn-in as leader of the troubled East African nation, dpa reported.
Two bombs exploded outside the hotel in the capital Mogadishu where Mohamud and Kenyan Foreign Minister Sam Ongeri were holding a press conference, according to Kenya's The Standard newspaper. Both men were unharmed.
Two bodies were seen near the hotel's entrance, one of which was presumed to be that of a suicide bomber.
Somalia's parliament elected Mohamud president on Monday, part of a process intended to establish a stable government in the war-torn country that has not seen a stable government since 1991.
