At least 26 workers were killed and dozens injured in an explosion at a natural gas distribution centre in northern Mexico Tuesday, dpa reported.

At least 26 workers were killed and dozens injured in an explosion at a natural gas distribution centre in northern Mexico Tuesday, dpa reported.

Officials were still investigating the cause of the explosion at the facility operated by the state-owned oil and gas monopoly Pemex.

The incident occurred at in a pipeline near a highway that connects the cities of Monterrey and Reynosa in the north-eastern state of Tamaulipas.
