Two Marines will face trial in connection with a video showing US troops urinating on the corpses of Taliban fighters in Afghanistan, the Pentagon said Monday, DPA reported.

A 39-second video of the July 2011 incident appeared on the internet earlier this year prompting outrage over images of at least four US Marines urinating on the bodies in Helmand province.

Staff Sergeants Joseph W Chamblin and Edward W Deptola were referred to a military court on criminal charges related to the urination and posing for photographs with human casualties. They also face other charges related to the operation, such as failing to properly supervise Marines under their command.

Three other Marines who admitted involvement in the incident were punished last month. The Marine Corps said other charges were pending in the incident.
