Pakistani Taliban forces executed 21 of 23 kidnapped tribal police officers in the restive border region with Afghanistan, Dawn newspaper reported online Sunday.
The report quoted police sources, and said the political administration of the frontier region of Peshawar confirmed that the 21 officials - who are called levies - were shot dead by the militant group on a cricket ground in Peshawar, dpa reported.
The levies were kidnapped in an attack on their post in recent days.
Two of the kidnapped officials escaped from captivity, Dawn reported. A Taliban spokesman told Dawn that his group carried out the attack.
