Nearly 60 people injured in Moscow metro fire

The number of injured from the Moscow metro fire increased up to 59. Eleven of the injured were then hospitalized, the Ministry of Healthcare reported to RIA Novosti.

On Wednesday morning, a power cable caught fire in the Moscow metro between Biblioteka imeni Lenina and Okhotniy Ryad stations. It was earlier reported that there were 52 injured. All the six stations of the Sokolnicheskiy line inside the "ring" were closed. At 12:00, service was restored. But at 12:43 a new smoke emission was reported in the same part of the metro, traffic was again suspended.

The 59 injured requested medical aid, 11 of them were hospitalized. All the hospitalized suffered from smoke inhalation, their condition is relatively satisfactory. The others suffered from the acute reaction to stress and have slight signs of poisoning," agency's interlocutor said.

According to the given information one of the injured is a teenage girl who is in intensive care.
