CSTO approves draft on collective air forces

A project on collective aviation forces was agreed at the enlarged meeting of the Permanent Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, Rossiyskaya Gazeta said Oct.2.

"It will be created as part of the CSTO Collective Security Council forces and means," said the organization spokesman Vladimir Zainetdinov, referring to the structure and challenges faced by the future Air Force structure. "Collective air forces of the CSTO will include the air formations of military and transport and special air forces, the bodies of internal affairs, internal security forces, security agencies and special services, as well as the bodies having authority in the field of prevention and liquidation of consequences of emergency situations, member states of the organization. The number of aircraft from each country, the place of dislocation, the quantity of personnel is being specified. It was decided to submit the draft document for consideration of the statutory bodies of the organization."

CSTO Permanent Council also began its consideration of the draft agreement on jurisdiction and legal assistance in cases related to the temporary dislocation of the forces and means of the collective security system on the territories of the CSTO member states. In addition, the project of decision of the Council of Defense Ministers and the Committee of Secretaries of Security Councils of the CSTO on the plan of joint activities of operational and combat training of management bodies and formations of forces and means of the CSTO Collective Security System for 2015 has been agreed upon.

The CSTO includes Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Russia and Belarus.
