Hungary needs a gas pipeline bypassing Ukraine to ensure its energy security, the Bloomberg news agency reported citing the Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, the Russian agency Interfax said Dec. 5.

Orban said the Hungarian government is working on a new solution to the issue of his country's energy security, following Russia's statement on ceasing the South Stream project.

He, in particular, said Hungary has good relations with Azerbaijan.

It was reported that on Dec. 1, the Russian President Vladimir Putin during his visit to Turkey, said Russia ceases the South Stream gas pipeline project because of the position taken by Bulgaria.
