A plane of the German airline Lufthansa flying from the Belarusian capital of Minsk to the German city of Frankfurt had to return due to an emergency situation, the BelTA news agency reported citing the Minsk City Emergency Management Press Secretary Vitali Dembovski.

"A Lufthansa flight from Minsk to Frankfurt returned to the Belarusian airport due to an emergency situation. The equipment of the Emergency Situations Ministry was deployed to the airport, and the plane landed successfully," Dembovski said.

Lufthansa's representative office at the Minsk National Airport explained that the plane had to return due to technical problems - there was a problem with the wing flaps.

The Lufthansa representative office said the plane landed in normal mode.

"After repairing the plane, it took off empty from the Minsk National Airport. Now passengers are in the airport. The passengers of the aircraft, who were flying through transit to other cities, will be distributed across other suitable flights," the representative office said. "Those flying to Frankfurt will depart with the airline's next flight in the afternoon."
