The US and Ukraine are strengthening security cooperation, Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko said Feb. 5 at a meeting with the US Secretary of State John Kerry, TASS news agency reported.

"We are strengthening our cooperation in the area of security, to find the most effective solution to the situation [in the country]. This is very important for us," he said.

Poroshenko once again thanked Kerry for the support of the US for reforms in Ukraine, for the advices that the US gives to Kiev on particularly important and sensitive issues.

"Ukraine really needs help in the fight against corruption, the establishment of a normal investment climate, and so on. In these areas, it is very important for us to continue to cooperate with the US," he said.
