The police of Denmark have confirmed Sunday that a person who was shot in head during the attack at a Copenhagen synagogue has died, RIA Novosti reported referring to AFP.

Earlier on Sunday it was reported that an unidentified gunman has opened fire near a synagogue in central Copenhagen injuring three individuals, including two policemen. The other two victims of shooting were wounded in arms and legs.

The Copenhagen city center is now closed and locals are asked not to leave their houses as the attacker remains on the run.

"Insane night in central Copenhagen - police helicopter in the air, ambulances lining up, police asking people to stay inside," local journalist Morten Frich tweeted on Feb.15.

Danish police said earlier it is too early to say whether the incident was connected to Saturday shooting at the freedom of speech event in Copenhagen's cafe that left one dead and three injured. Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt said that shooting was a terrorist attack.
