Voter turnout in the parliamentary election in Belarus was 74.8 percent, head of the Belarusian Central Election Commission Lidia Yermoshina said Sept. 12 at a press conference in Minsk, RIA Novosti reported.
Election of MPs to the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus ended Sept. 11.
The election was held in accordance with the majority system – 110 of 484 candidates were elected in 110 districts.
Yermoshina noted that 38 women, or 34 percent of the candidates, were elected to the parliament, which is by nine people more than in the previous convocation.
