Polish rescuers have found at least two dead bodies following the earthquake in the Rudna mine in western Poland, Sputnik reported.

An earthquake measuring 4.5 occurred late on Tuesday at the mine, which is located in the city of Polkowice. At the time of the quake, there were 16 people in the mine, a number of them were brought to the surface, seven people were hospitalized with injuries of varying severity.

Earlier in the day, the KGHM Polska Miedz miming company reported that there was a large-scale caving, which was liokely to affect the area with at least 30 miners, 20 of them sought medical treatment, but their injuries are not life threatening. According to the company, the contact with the six miners blocked in the mine, was lost.

The search and rescue operations are currently underway.
