US House passes tax reform bill, sends measure to Senate

Trump held a meeting with congressional Republicans ahead of a House vote on tax cuts, Sputnik reported.

The US House of Representatives has passed the Republican-crafted tax reform bill with a 227-205 votes

Prior to the vote on the tax plan that now heads to the US Senate for consideration, President Donald Trump held a meeting at the US Capitol with the Republicans.

The new tax plan that has been revealed by the Republican party on November 2 would lower the corporate tax rate by 15 points to 20 percent, according to a summary document from the House Ways and Means Committee.

According to a recent poll released by Politico/Morning Consutlt, the majority of US voters believe that President Donald Trump and his businesses will gain from the upcoming tax overhaul, while fewer than three in 10 say the legislation will help them.

However, despite criticism of the plan, Trump has previously expressed confidence that the tax proposal will be on his table for a final signature by the end of 2017, adding that it would contribute to job growth in the United States.
