The Papua New Guinea region registered a 5.8 magnitude earthquake today, Fiji Times reports.
The seismic activity occurred at a depth of 271km - 49km Northwest from Rabaul, PNG; 808km Northeast from Post Moresby; 1092km Northwest from Honiara, Solomon Is; and 3307km Northwest from Suva, Fiji.
The Mineral Resources department in Suva said the moderate earthquake with deep depth source location posed no immediate threat to the Fiji region.
