Somali police have handed over two al-Shabab terror suspects to Kenyan police as part of joint efforts to curb cross border incursions, Trend reports citing Xinhua.

Paul Soi, Northeastern police commander of Kenya said on Thursday the two are believed to have fled to Somalia after committing a crime in the region and especially near the Liboi border.

"We have launched further investigations on the two suspects who were handed over to the police on Wednesday," Soi said.

The police said the two al-Shabab operatives have been linked to the deadly Oct. 12 attack in Liboi where 11 paramilitary police were killed.

"They were found with several loaded firearms, which were also confiscated. The suspects are under interrogation before further action is taken on them," Soi said.

The two suspects named Farah Ahmed Sanbul alias Faragon and Mihat Daar Khalif were handed over with an AK47 rifle belonging to Kenya Police which had 30 bullets, another AK47 rifle belonging to Somalia with five magazines and 117 bullets, another AK47 rifle with four bullets and a pistol which had five magazines with 40 bullets.
