(RIA Novosti) - U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice arrives Wednesday in Moscow for a G8 ministerial meeting, the U.S. Embassy in Russia said.

Rice, who will stay in Moscow until June 30, will also hold a number of bilateral meetings with Russian officials and other bilateral meetings, including one with EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana, reports Trend.

In the Russian capital, Rice will discuss with Solana the development of Iranian controversial nuclear program. Solana visited Tehran on June 6 to hand over to the Iranian authorities proposals drafted by Russia, the United States, China, Great Britain, France and Germany on stopping the country's uranium enrichment program. He plans to head back to Tehran in early July to discuss the future of the proposals.

Rice has visited Pakistan and Afghanistan prior to her arrival in Moscow.

This year Russia holds the rotating chair in the Group of Eight industrialized nations, and will host the organization's summit on July 15-17 in St. Petersburg.
