(RIA Novosti) - Russia's state-owned arms exporter said Tuesday that it had orders worth about $17 billion, including orders for air defense systems worth $3.5 billion.

Ivan Goncharenko, deputy director of Rosoboronexport, said Russian air defense enterprises, in particular sectoral leaders Almaz and Antei, had orders until 2010, reports Trend.

Goncharenko said naval orders led exports in 2006, but aviation equipment would take the top spot by 2007.

He said aircraft equipment took far less time to manufacture.
